Try this math problem...

Here is a math trick so unbelievable that it will stump you. Personally I would like to know who came up with this and why that person is not running the country.

1.GRAB A CALCULATOR. (YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO DO THIS ONE IN YOUR HEAD)

2.KEY IN THE FIRST THREE DIGITS OF YOUR PHONE NUMBER (NOT THE AREA CODE)

3.MULTIPLY BY 80

4.ADD 1

5.MULTIPLY BY 250

6.ADD THE LAST 4 DIGITS OF YOUR PHONE NUMBER

7.ADD THE LAST 4 DIGITS OF YOUR PHONE NUMBER AGAIN.

8.SUBTRACT 250

9.DIVIDE NUMBER BY 2

DO YOU RECOGNIZE THE ANSWER?
(thanks taylor)

It's just simple algebra. Let the 1st 3 digits of the phone number be xxx and the last 4 digits be yyyy. Then (with * indicating multiplication) applying (3) thru (9) we get:
[(80*xxx + 1)*250 + yyyy + yyyy - 250]/2
= [20,000*xxx + 250 + 2*yyyy -250]/2
=10,000*xxx + yyyy

but 10,000*xxx is just xxx with 4 zeros added on the right, so...

= xxx0000
+ yyyy
__________
xxxyyyy = your phone number

Wow! There are so many wonders like this posted on the Internet.
How many of us are amazed coz we forgot or never passed 1st year algebra!
