Man finds $100,000 in his attic; former owner now wants it

Crawling around his attic on a hot Saturday afternoon in July, Bernard Salcedo would have been satisfied just to find the damaged wire that killed power to the electrical outlets in his two bathrooms.

But the 26-year-old computer engineer found something else. Hidden in a cavity cut in the insulation was a strongbox containing four plastic vacuum-sealed bags filled with $100,000 in $20 and $100 bills.

Instead of enjoying his discovery, Salcedo faces a legal challenge from the home's former owner, who claims the money is rightfully hers. » Read the full article here
