Dog swallows 13-inch knife?

Sixth-month-old Elsie, a Saint Bernard puppy, ingested a 13-inch knife with a serrated blade.*

Elsie's owners took her to the vet after noticing she was lethargic. The vets found the knife stuck between Elsie's esophagus and stomach. It had been there for four days! They removed it and said the puppy will be fine.

*How the heck is this dog alive? I don't understand how a 13-inch knife can go down any animal's stomach and not suffer any fatal consequences! Freakin' unbelievable!
