Drunk man stumbles into his old home, killed

A man who wandered back to the house where he had grown up after a birthday pub crawl was killed by the new owner who mistook him for a burglar, an inquest was told yesterday.

Michael Robinson, a married father of a five-month-old girl, had lived in the house for twenty-seven years before moving nine years ago. He is believed to have returned in a befuddled state after celebrating his 36th birthday in local pubs.

The owner of the property, saw Mr. Robinson in his garden and went out to confront him. He then chased him into an alley and they got into a fight.

Mr. Gentles, who had been a schoolboy boxing champion, hit back and knocked him down with one punch. Mr Robinson fell backwards and smashed his head on the path.

He died in hospital eight days later from brain damage and a fractured skull. Mr Gentles was charged with murder initially but the case was dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service.

Whoa? Guy dies on a pub crawl on the day of his birthday at his old house. That's intense. Article here.
