Highway road reflectors can kill people?

Highway road reflectors are supposed to keep you safe, but investigator Ron Regan has found that the 5-pound steel reflectors are supposed to increase safety, but are also deadly.

"It came through the windshield, hit the steering wheel and must have bounced off and just grazed my head, only a couple of stitches," said Tomaselli.

He was lucky. Dan Long nearly lost an eye, and Debra Black had her face ripped off.

In Missouri, a 7-year-old was seriously injured, and in Kentucky a woman was killed when a reflector punctured the tire of her SUV.

"My opinion is that these markers should no longer be in the ground and those that are should be inspected on a regular basis," said Lowe.

"Had it not been for the concern brought forward by Channel Five, this would have been a problem that would have been ongoing," said Patton. "This is now a problem that is now being resolved. And with the additional, much more thorough inspections, we hope we can eliminate the problem. This is what the people of the state of Ohio deserve."

Changes being made include statewide annual surveys of every reflector on every road and installation inspections, something that was never done before. The state will also train 2,500 workers in proper procedure for installation and maintenance of reflectors.

Your not suppose to be driving on them.

As far as inspections go, why not inspect lug nuts and rocks? Idiots!
