Dad beats up son for sleeping-in?
When a father saw his teenage son sleeping long after school normally starts Wednesday morning, he mistakenly thought the boy was trying to skip school.
Uniontown police said the 59-year-old man did not know Wednesday was a “delayed start” day, where the starting time at Lake Local Schools is pushed back 90 minutes.
Minutes later, both were throwing punches and the boy wound up on his way to Akron Children’s Hospital with a split lip and a swollen nose, police said. Jail records said the boy’s dad kicked him in the face, leading to the father’s arrest on a domestic violence charge.
Coontz said the boy, who will turn 18 in June, is about 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs more than 200 pounds “and three months away from being an adult.”
He said the father and son had been exchanging punches.
“The dad was hit to the left forehead and eye. He had marks of a struggle. So it just wasn’t one-sided,” Coontz said. However, police determined the older man to be the primary aggressor.
The father was charged with a first-degree misdemeanor. If convicted, he faces up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. He was released from jail after posting a $10,000 bond.
Damn dad. Might want to work on those communication skills with your kid. Article here.
