Hit-and-run victims dead in ditch hours

Two hit-and-run victims in Palm Bay, Fla., were thrown into a ditch face-down and left dead or dying for hours before an officer found their bodies.

Nicole LaFlamme, 36, was charged with two counts of vehicular homicide in connection with the deaths of Dayle Adams and Dean Bealch on Tuesday.

LaFlamme was turned into police after she told a friend she thought she hit a bear on the road, according to a Local 6 News report. When LaFlamme's friend noticed the damage to her car, she turned the woman into police, Local 6 News reporter Gerald Reznick said.
"She said that she was driving along and something popped up in front of her and she hit it," Palm Bay police officer Jennifer Cordeau said.

Adams and Bealch were found along a darkened stretch of U.S. 1 near Overlook Drive. A patrol officer spotted the bodies of Adams and Belach in a ditch just off the roadway about 150 feet north of Sun Manor Trailer Park, officials said.

"They were both thrown a great distance away," Cordeau said. "The people were in a ditch face down, dying or dead for at least two hours before anyone found them." Investigators said LaFlamme admitted that she was tired and had been at a bar before Adams and Bealch were hit.
"She is not showing any kind of remorse, she is not crying," Cordeau said. "When you hit someone on the side of the road, you stop your car and render aid. That is the humane thing to do. You don't leave them on the side of the road to die in a ditch."
LaFlamme could face 30 years in prison on each count she faces. Article here.
