Woman left children in cold car while tanning

A woman was arrested Wednesday after police say she left her two children — one under 2 years old — in the car in sub-zero wind chills so she could go tanning.

Lori Yeager, 27, was arrested. “She said she was going on vacation and apparently felt that the tanning was a priority,” Lt. Jeff Johnston said this morning.

Yeager was issued two misdemeanor citations for child neglect and will be in court on Feb. 26. She will not be charged by the district attorney’s office, a secretary there said.

The temperature at the time was 12 degrees, with a wind chill index of about minus 2. Police found the children dressed warmly but with goose bumps from the cold, Mittelstadt said. They did not require medical attention. Article here.
