Band director sends 500+ text messages to student

The Hillsborough County School Board voted to uphold the superintendent's recommendation of firing a former Plant High School band director who had sent more than 500 text messages to a student.

John Sinibaldi, 46, has been on unpaid leave since November. During the 2006-07 school year, Sinibaldi sent 525 text messages to a female member of the high school band during and after school hours, Hegarty said.

He insists he was just trying to help the female student. "I tried to help because I'm human," he says. "You can't be a robot in the classroom. And the thanks I have gotten was to be destroyed." » Article here
