Worthy DVD rental

Some films have moments that are so amazing…so perfect and real and convincing, that you forget about everything and become lost in the moment. I rented this movie after hearing mixed reviews, but it was so good, so amazingly perfect (acting & script), that it totally overshadowed any negative feelings I had about anything else in the movie.

Nothing about the relationships the movie depicts is desirable at all...but the true to life acting makes you engulfed in the emotions of the actors. There is a scene where the 2 couples are paralleled and fighting- and it is quite possible the best true to life acting of what relationships are like, that I've ever seen. Closer, I was pleasantly surprised to find it was adapted by Patrick Marber from his 1997 play, is set in modern London.

Bottom line, rent it. But be prepared for an experience.
