Teen beats friend on head with ax for dating his mother

Police in a 17-year-old used an ax to beat a friend who was dating his mother. Dayne Simons was arrested and charged with beating 19-year-old Jody Ross in the head with the ax.

Police responded to a 911 call for help at a home and found Ross on the floor. He had a cut to the left side of his face and blunt force injuries to his head. He was taken to the hospital where he is in stable condition. Police said Simons' mother told officers her son was angry because she was dating Ross. » Article here

Woman robs kid trick-or-treaters of their candy

A Wasilla woman is under arrest, accused of robbing seven trick-or-treaters for their candy on Halloween. Amber Martin, 20, is charged with six counts of robbery and seven counts of assault. She and a female accomplice -- both with ski masks -- allegedly fired a gunshot into the air and threatened the children, then took six bags of candy and an iPhone. » Article here

Woman on 'three-day-bender' found passed out in car

A 55-year-old woman who told officers she was on a three-day bender was taken into custody after she was found passed out in her car.

The woman registered .40 for blood alcohol content, said Sgt. John Toney, five times the legal limit of .08 for driving. Officers found her early Sunday passed out in a car in a driveway, Toney said.

"They were able to awaken her and she told them she was not sure how long she had been sitting there or how she got there," he said. "She said she was on a three-day bender." The woman was placed in a mental health facility. » Article here

Highlights from my weekend, KU Homecoming 2007.

This past weekend I traveled to the great city of Lawrence, KS for Homecoming 2007 (vs. Nebraska). In short, there was good football, awesome tailgating and great conversation. See the highlights below.
