Six years old, and at the prime of his life, large male white Bengal tiger called Odin lives at the Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Zoo in Vallejo, near San Francisco. He is about 10ft long from nose to tail, and is an excellent swimmer. Full article here.

Dude in his underwear pins wild leopard in his house

A man clad only in underwear and a T-shirt wrestled a wild leopard to the floor and pinned it for 20 minutes after the cat leapt through a window of his home and hopped into bed with his sleeping family.

Shapira said it was probably food that lured the big cat. Leopards living near humans are usually too old to hunt in the wild and resort to chasing down domestic dogs and cats for food, he added. Full article here

Robber asks victim if she'd go out with him sometime

After taking money in the U-Haul store robbery, one of the two men didn't run; he wanted a date with the woman he just robbed. "He stuck around and was trying to get the female employee's number," says the U-Haul general manager. "She said he was just saying, 'Hey baby, you’re pretty fine.' Dude steals 1,500 pairs of shoes, 'he liked to smell them'

Police recovered more than 1,500 pairs of girls' shoes stolen from three public high schools and a middle school after arresting a man for 17 counts of burglary, Waukesha police Lt. William H. Graham said.

"He liked to smell them," Graham said. The shoes, some of which had to be placed in boxes and bags, are in the department's property room, he said. The man worked for a cable company and collected keys for the schools as he responded to calls. The man is accused of stealing the shoes from girls' lockers. Full article here

U.S. drunk driving deaths at highest level in 14-years

Alcohol-related deaths on U.S. roads rose to their highest level in 14 years in 2006, while the overall number of people killed in traffic crashes declined slightly but still topped 43,000, according to preliminary government estimates Friday.

The Transportation Department said that drunken driving deaths rose 2.4 percent to 17,941 after a slight decline in 2005. It was the highest level since 1992 when 18,290 deaths were reported. Full article here.

Brawl breaks out at Waffle House over $35 bill

Police in Key West, Florida said two women yelled at a Waffle House cashier and started to beat another woman over a $34.57 bill.
The women yelled at the cashier and told her that they weren't paying their tab. According to police reports, when another woman tried to intervene the two disgruntled customers started to beat her. The women fled without paying their tab, but one of the restaurant's cooks told authorities that the pair often visits the area. Article here
