Dude gets shot by a pistol thrown in a trashcan

A man from Wichita, KS is recovering from a gunshot wound to the hand from a pistol that was thrown in the trash, sheriff's officials said.

The 42-year-old man, who was not identified, was helping unload trash Tuesday and accidentally hit the trigger of a discarded short-barreled pistol, wounding his left hand, said Sedgwick County sheriff's Capt. Mike Oliver.

Oliver said witnesses heard the pop and saw the man with blood on his hand at a Wichita trash transfer station Tuesday morning. The gun was loose in the trash and covered with mud.

Investigators want to know why it had been thrown away and said it wasn't immediately clear if the gun was used in a crime. Article here.

Dude stole over 1,500 woman's panties and bras

A man was charged with theft and burglary after police said they found 93 pounds of women's panties, brassieres and other underwear at his home.

Investigators believe Garth M. Flaherty, 24, took as many as 1,500 undergarments from apartment complex laundry rooms before he was caught, police Cmdr. Chris Tennant said.

Police found enough underwear in his bedroom to fill five garbage bags, Tennant said. "He said he had a problem," Tennant said.

Flaherty has been jailed on 12 counts of second-degree burglary and one of first-degree theft. Police had previously received 12 reports of underwear thefts in the northeast part of town, where Washington State University is located. Article here.

It's always fun jumping on hotel room beds

For those of you loyal Across-the-Board readers, you’ll remember a couple weeks ago I took a trip to Dallas. Well, some of the pictures from my trip were great material for the website www.bedjump.com.

Anyways, you should checkout www.bedjump.com, it's a refreshingly funny and clever website.

You have to admit -- when you walk into your hotel room for the first time… nothing’s more therapeutic than dropping your bags and hurling yourself in the air as high as you can onto a hotel bed.

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline have hammered out the details of their split, and it’s reportedly going to cost the “Toxic” singer $13 million. What’s more, Star magazine says that Spears was reluctant to finalize the split.
“Do you really want to do this?” Spears asked K-Fed as the two met to discuss final details of their divorce, reports to the upcoming issue of the tab. K-Fed said yes, and his estranged wife replied, “You’re the biggest mistake I’ve ever made, but thank you for my babies.”

Among the details, according to the tab:
  • A 2004 prenup called for K-Fed to get $250,000 for each year of their marriage, but Spears upped that figure to $500,000 to speed up the negotiations.

  • He receives half the proceeds from their Malibu mansion, which is on the market for $13.5 million.

  • Spears will pay $25,000 a month in child support for each of the couple’s two children until they reach 18. He also gets custody of the boys four days a week.

Dude falls 300 feet down country hillside

A man fell 300 feet down a steep hillside on Wednesday in Pittsburgh.

Arnold Morris, owner of Morris Tire Service, said the man was a customer. Morris said the man and his wife pulled into the parking lot to pick up a vehicle that was being serviced.

The man apparently had some papers that blew out of his hand and chased after them, Morris said. He apparently ran off the end of the parking lot, which has no guard rail, and tumbled down the hillside.

The man's wife went running into the tire store and alerted workers. They called 911. The man's name and condition are not known. Article here.

Woman falls out window, saved by pile of poop

A Chinese woman survived a plunge from a sixth-floor balcony thanks to a convenient pile of excrement which broke her fall.

The accident happened when the woman was hanging out laundry. "Workers happened to be emptying the building's septic tank, which had not been tended for a long time and had regularly blocked sewage pipes," the newspaper said.

"She probably stretched out too far and fell ... right on to a 7 inches/20 cm-thick heap of excrement."

The woman suffered only slight injuries, the newspaper said. Full article here.
