15-year-old charged for pulling girl's pants down as prank

A 15-year-old James City County boy is facing a sexual battery charge for pulling down the pants of a 14-year-old girl over the weekend, James City Police spokesman Mike Spearman said.

Spearman said the boy approached the girl from behind while she was talking with a friend and pulled down her pants in front of a group of people. He then fled the scene, but was later turned in after police contacted his mother.

Police took the teenager into custody Saturday evening and he was detained at the Merrimac Juvenile Detention Center. While it might seem like a harsh reaction to a childish prank, "Any unlawful touching is an assault," Spearman said.

Sexual battery is a Class 1 misdemeanor — punishable by up to a year in jail and a $2,500 fine for adults. However, the 15-year-old's case will be handled in the juvenile justice system. » Article here

Dude hijacks Amish buggy after robbing gas station

A small town known for its quaint Amish community and crafts was turned upside down Tuesday night after a robbery suspect held law enforcement officers at bay for hours, authorities said. Draper Scott Richardson, 26, of Breckenridge, was being held Wednesday at the Livingston County Jail on $1 million bond.

Richardson was involved in the robbery of a store Saturday in Chillicothe, Mo., and during the incident, shots were fired at bystanders and Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers, investigators said.

Richardson had commandeered an Amish horse and buggy to take him to the trailer, but Heldenbrand said he spoke to the Amish man who drove Richardson. He willingly gave Richardson a ride, the Amish man told the sheriff.

The Amish man told Heldenbrand that Richardson told him he and his friend had gotten into an argument while they were driving by and his friend and kicked him out of the vehicle. Before he gave Richardson a ride into town, the Amish man invited him into his home for dinner. They ate biscuits and gravy, casserole and other food, Heldenbrand said. » Full article here

eBay cancels corn flake auction

Two sisters from Virginia who are selling a corn flake shaped like the state of Illinois on eBay say the online auction Web site canceled their listing.
But through a nifty maneuver, the Land of Lincoln flake remains available. Melissa McIntire of Chesapeake, Virginia says the listing for the Illinois corn flake was pulled because it violated the eBay Food policy. McIntire says she doesn't know how the policy was violated

McIntire and her sister, Emily, have relisted the flake on eBay, but this time they're auctioning a coupon redeemable for their corn flake, instead of the cereal itself. » Article here
