Dude robs gas station with syringe filled with 'AIDS'

Authorities said they arrested a man who robbed a New Port Richey gas station with what he told the clerk was a syringe containing AIDS.

Viro Dincecco was arrested Thursday after someone recognized him from a surveillance video on the news and tipped off police. Detectives said the 21-year-old man confessed to six robberies, which he said were committed to feed a crack cocaine habit.

As for the syringe containing HIV-infected blood used in the March 31 robbery, Dincecco told detectives it was really just red Kool-Aid. Full article here.

Every time you masturbate, god kills a kitten: fact or fiction?

By now I'm sure you're familiar with the age-old adage, "Every time you masturbate, God kills a kitten." When my doctor said this to me the other day, it made me think: can the statement really be true? Although the idiom implies a causal link, let's take it at face value and assume that it is merely observing a correlation between the kitten mortality rate and the masturbation rate. Does such a correlation exist?

Approximately 70,000 dogs and cats are born in the U.S. each day, or 25,567,500 each year. Of these, roughly 54%, or 13,806,450, are cats. Since 34.5% of cats don't live to see their first birthday, we can assume that about 4,763,225 kittens die each year in the United States alone. We'll take for granted that God in His divine Wisdom purposely smote each of these kittens.

17-year-old gives birth to baby, then stabs it 135 times

A 17-year-old Minnesota girl told police she gave birth on the laundry room floor early Monday, then panicked and stabbed the baby girl after seeing her move a finger.

The baby, found by investigators in a bloody garbage bag outside the teen's home, had 135 stab wounds, many in her tiny chest. The Ramsey County medical examiner's office said the baby was born alive and bled to death.

County Attorney Douglas Johnson noted that state law allows mothers to leave infants at any hospital within 72 hours of birth with no legal consequences. "She could have walked away and the baby would have been adopted by a family that wanted it," he said. "Instead she destroys two lives: her own and the baby's."We don't know what motivated her," Johnson said. Full article here.

Study shows men look at a woman's face before genitals

A study funded by the Atlanta-based Center for Behavioral Neuroscience analyzed the viewing patterns of men and women looking at sexual photographs, and the result was not what one typically might expect, according to a press release.

Researchers hypothesized women would look at faces and men at genitals, but, surprisingly, they found men are more likely than women to first look at a woman's face before other parts of the body, and women focused longer on photographs of men performing sexual acts with women than did the males, the study found.

These types of results could play a key role in helping researchers to understand human sexual desires and its ultimate effect on public health, according to the press release.

"Men looked at the female face much more than women, and both looked at the genitals comparably," said lead author Dr. Heather Rupp, a fellow at The Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex. Full article here.

The dude who invented 'instant noodles' is dead

The inventor of instant noodles, Momofuku Ando, has died in Japan, aged 96, of a heart attack.

Mr Ando was born in Taiwan in 1910 and moved to Japan in 1933, founding Nissin Food Products Co after World War II to provide cheap food for the masses. His most famous product, Cup Noodle, was released in 1971.
He developed his first instant noodles, Chicken Ramen, in 1958. Mr Ando said the inspiration for his product came when he saw people lining up to buy bowls of hot ramen noodle soup at a black market stall during the food shortages after World War II. Full article here.
