Woman cleans hands with gas, burns her trailer home down

A woman's trailer burned to the ground when she tried to clean her hands with gasoline and left the gas can on a stove with an open flame.

The 45-year-old woman had been painting inside her trailer when she decided to clean her hands with the gasoline, said Sandra King, spokeswoman for Pompano Beach Fire-Rescue. The woman placed the can of gasoline on a stove with a lit pilot and it ignited, she said.

The woman escaped with minor burns to her hands and was treated at the scene. The trailer was destroyed. » Article here

Firefighters use 'jaws of life' to free boy trapped in washing machine

Four-year-old Donovan Hasseman climbed into the washer and ended up becoming trapped with his back stuck up against the agitator.

"I was petrified," says his mother Jennifer Hasseman. "I didn't know what to do. I was beside myself." Donovan's mother called 9-1-1 when she couldn't get the boy out of the washing machine.

Firefighters then worked for half an hour to free the boy. At one point firefighters enlisted the help of a local appliance repairman for advice. In the end, firefighters used the "jaws of life," a piece of equipment normally used to extract accident victims trapped in wreckage. » Full article here

Like most children her age, Jennifer Lloyd loves watching her favorite programes on TV. But when a scary bit is about to happen the ten-year-old has to leave the room quickly - because the sudden shock could kill her.

Dude steals woman's cell phone -- then licks her feet.

A man who robbed a woman of her keys and cell phone, then licked her toes, was sentenced Wednesday to five years' probation. Carlton Davis, 26, faces 21 months in prison if he fails to complete probation for the robbery charge.

Davis approached the woman and forced her to put her phone and purse inside a bag. Then he told her, "Now I'm going to suck your feet." Police arrested Davis a few minutes later about four blocks away. » Article here

Woman kills her baby in microwave

A woman accused of killing her month-old daughter in a microwave oven told her boyfriend that she killed the baby and that the girl would still be alive if he hadn't been out cheating, the boyfriend testified.

Terrell Talley said that he and China Arnold took the girl, Paris, to the hospital where she was pronounced dead in August 2005 and that Arnold told him she killed her baby. He said they had finished nearly a pint of alcohol they had bought after fighting over Talley's doubts that he fathered the infant.

Talley said his sister watched Arnold's children while the couple drove to a liquor store and went to a park where they drank and continued arguing. After arriving back at their apartment, Talley said he slapped Arnold and pushed her to the ground after she bit his lip.

Talley said Arnold later left the apartment to get cigarettes, passing out on a couch when she returned. He said he left the apartment and returned to find Arnold asleep on the couch with the baby lying at her feet. He also went to sleep.

After Arnold got up to get her sons ready for school, Talley said he saw a red mark on the baby's face and noticed she was stiff and cold. The couple took the baby to the hospital. » Full article here
