Video blog: 'Kansas City Airshow '08, Downtown Airport'

Check out this footage I shot while attending the 2008 Kansas City Downtown Airshow at the Charles B. Wheeler Airport. I somehow scored an interview with Kansas City’s own, Thunderbird Pilot Dyon Douglas! Probably the craziest thing I saw that I captured footage of was a “how it works” explanation of a jet powered porta potty that goes over 70 MPH.

8,118 blog posts and over 2 million visitors.

...some pretty amazing facts/statistics about Across-the-Board. Who would I like to thank for this?

You.

Thank YOU for all your loyal support over the years (yes, years). I know some of you hold Across-the-Board up to high standards in your daily entertainment. Your comments and compliments is what makes me keep reinvesting my time for you. Thanks for all the referrals and links you've provided me to support the content that is here at Across-the-Board. I'll still be doing my best to provide you with only quality stuff here at ACB as much as I can. My schedule is making it harder to post every weekday -- but I will still be posting as frequently as I can. Again, Thank you.

I was blogging on my other blog.

Ok kids -- I apologize again, no posts. But I have a better excuse this time. I've been working on my coding and designing my personal blog, www.ramseymohsen.com

Don't worry, Across-the-Board isn't going anywhere. My personal blog will be a wide ranging amount of topics; tech insight, personal experiences, photos, my advice on life, music recommendations, and likely lots of really cool stuff I haven’t even thought about yet.

Soooooo check it out! What do you think? I was going for more of a simple minimalistic "theme" so the focus is on the content. Let me know what you think?

A message from Ramsey about Across-the-Board.

Hey friends -- quick update. This week I'm traveling on business in Boston, so Across the Board will not resume until Friday. I know... crazy huh? You can get your "A.C.B. fix" by clicking on the archived posts until then.

I also though I'd post two video blogs I cut from this past weekend, check 'em out...

Its me Ramsey -- so sue me?

Hey kids. Sorry for the inconstancy of posts this past week. I've been busy working late on some Projects and it's literally causing me to have no free time outside of work. Its 3 AM right now as I'm writing this message. I haven't been home earlier than 10:30 PM for the past two weeks. I know -- I'm being a "debbie downer" right now, but hopefully posts will resume to their normal blog schedule next week.

"The Joy of Painting..." with my friend Nick.

This weekend I asked my friend Nick to create an abstract replica painting of "Allen Field House", the arena where my Alma Mater (KU) plays basketball. Here's a quick video blog of the entire experience:

Happy Earth Day from Across-the-Board!

In celebration of Earth Day I'd thought it would be appropriate to direct you to some resources provided by one of my clients The Climate and Energy Project. I led the design, development, and deployment of their website this year -- and I thought it would be great to refer you some of the helpful information they provide.

Snowing @Kansas City Royals game in the middle of April?

So when I was at Kansas City Royals game this weekend ...it started snowing during the middle of the game (the video didn't pick up the light flurries of snow, but I swear it was!) Snow wouldn't be that big of surprise, if it weren't for the fact it's the MIDDLE OF APRIL. The game was cold, the new scoreboard(s) were cool, and the Royals lost.

No posts today, my KU Jayhawks are National Champs!

Sometimes there are good reasons and bad reasons why I miss a day in blogging on Across-the-Board. Yesterday was a GREAT reason. My alma mater, Kansas University was in the National Championship for college basketball -- and we won. For those of you who live in a cave, you missed out on one of the best games in college basketball history -- let alone KU Basketball. I'm so happy right now its hard to express why this KU win means so much. You put so much emotion into watching EVERY game year after year, the feeling of winning is heaven. Posts will resume tomorrow, I'm going to keep enjoying this glory all the way up until the start of our first practices next year. Rock Chalk Jayhawks!

Here's my golf swing.

So I'll be the first admit I'm not the best at golf. But I enjoy it and am always looking to improve. That being said, those of you out there who are good at golf -- if you have any pointers or tips in regards to my swing, I'd love any and all feedback!

inkkc.com Launch Party, featuring DJ AM (@Live! Block)

A new publication and website called www.inkkc.com held it's launch party in the Power & Light District (Live! Block) in downtown Kansas City. I had a chance to stop by and checkout the headline entertainment "DJ AM", interview Jennifer from www.inkkc.com, and take a sneak peak at the new bar Mosaic.
Hearing DJ AM perform live (scratch and mix hot beats) was something I wasn't expecting to be as entertaining as it ended up being. He put on a great show and for sure is a pretty talented dude. He's got some skillz on the wheelz of steel.

All in all the night was pretty fun, hung out with some friends and got to meet some great people from www.inkkc.com. I'll be interested to see if it gets as much reception and praise as the other local KC publication, The Pitch.

My weekend trip to Tybee Island, GA -- posts will resume tomorrow.

Greetings Across-the-Board readers! I just got back from a weekend wedding trip to wonderful Tybee Island in Georgia (near Savannah). The trip was a blast. Lots of crazy stories -- one of which includes a friend who slept on the beach overnight in boxers and a t-shit, because he locked himself out of his room. Hil-arious, I know.
Savannah GA Wedding '08 (17)
I ate nothing but seafood during my visit (which all tasted awesome) and the weather was perfect almost the entire trip. The reason why I say "almost perfect" is the wedding & reception was intended to take place on-the-beach. However, the weather turned bad literally right before the ceremony and the wedding planners didn't really have a "plan B" ...so the wedding was in a parking garage. We all felt really bad for the bride and groom, but they seemed to have good attitudes about it.
Savannah GA Wedding '08 (21)
All-in-all, myself and the entire wedding attendees had one heck of a memorable weekend. I wish I had video blogged more of my trip, you can watch the few snippets I took in the video below. So you know, I had time to edit video from the trip on the plane ride home, but won't be able to update Across-the-Board till tomorrow (it's 1 AM, kinda sleepy).

An inside look at the Big 12 Tourney @KC Power & Light

An inside look of what it's like at the Kansas City Power and Light District (Live! Block) during the 2008 Big 12 Tournament. I had a chance to interview anchors Frank Boal and Dave Froehlich from FOX 4 and Whitney Mathews www.myfoxkc.com.

Interview w/HoneyHoney band @Beaumont Club (opened for Lifehouse)

Last night I had a chance to do a brief interview Suzanne Santo of HoneyHoney (band). She performed and opened for Lifehouse at the Beaumont Club here in Kansas City. The HoneyHoney band is with an independent record label, Ironworks -- which was created by 24's TV star Kiefer Sutherland. If you haven't heard her music, you should check out her and her awesome music at: www.myspace.com/honeyhoneyband
